About Me

Hi, I’m Theresa.

I’m a teacher who works with learners from young children to adults–and I have ADHD.

I didn’t know that growing up.

I just knew I felt different.

I was the daydreamer.
The messy notebook kid.
The “careless mistakes.”
The late projects.

It often felt like everyone else got the directions to life…

And I didn’t.

As an adult, it looked like:

• missed appointments
• forgotten bills
• running late
• big ideas that were hard to finish

When It Clicked

Then I learned about executive function.

Planning.
Organization.
Working memory.
Follow-through.

Suddenly, my entire life made sense.

There was a reason this felt hard.

I wasn’t lazy.

My brain was working differently.

And once I understood that, I stopped fighting my brain — and started supporting it.

Why I Created Joyful Learning Tree

That shift changed everything.

Because growth doesn’t come from pressure.

It comes from understanding how the brain works.

The Meaning Behind Joyful Learning Tree

Growth starts small.

A seed doesn’t become a strong tree overnight.

It grows gradually — with the right conditions.

Executive function skills grow the same way.

Not through willpower.

But through:

• small, manageable steps
• steady support
• external tools
• realistic systems

When we plant the right supports, they take root.

Over time, they grow into confidence.

Independence.

Momentum.

Because small steps really do lead to big progress. 🌿
